Our story

Mogusii Cultural Heritage is a community-based organisation in Ogembo, Kisii, working to document, preserve and teach Abagusii culture and heritage.

We run a digital museum, a learning centre for schools and visitors, a marketplace for artisan crafts, and research programmes in language, history and material culture.

Our approach

We believe heritage belongs to the community. Our content is evidence-labelled, reviewed by elders and artisans where possible, and we are transparent about what is documented versus oral tradition.

We are not a government body — we are a community initiative sustained by members, partners, visitors and supporters like you.
